Rotate the plate choke 90 degrees. Imagine the axis of each adjacent coil, which should be perpendicular to each other to minimize coupling.

I assume the choke is taller than it is wide - hard to be sure from the photo.

Thanks PJ! That works better from an esthetic point, as well!  The Dowdy PC is wider across the bell ends,  so the 90 degree shift presents a more balanced visual from the front.

The Dowdy PC measures:

Height 3 5/8"
Bell end  width 3 3/4"
Stack width 2 7/8"

Any issues with the orientation of the PS choke on top and the OPT under?

Cheers,
Geary

Why not consider going even larger on the chassis?

Ok Aaron, you win!!!  I have played around with the top plate size and it looks, to me, like 10"x14" is close to my "ideal".  It will give me some room to maneuver and accommodate the bigger, heavier iron. I like the visual esthetics of the top components and I gain ample real estate in the basement!!

I have ordered 0.125" aluminum plates in 10" x 14".  This is just over  50% thicker than the stock chassis plate. Again, better for the longer span and heavier iron!!

I got some board assembly done this weekend!!!  Getting excited!!

Cheers,
Geary
