Hi:

I purchased tube adapters from Taiwan and have been using 6SN7s in my v1.1 Paramounts for a while now.  While these adapters worked well, they were not of the highest quality.  About 3 months ago, I became aware of a USA manufacturer of very-high-quality (VHQ) adapters.

They were not in his current catalog at the time, so I asked him if he would consider making 6SN7-to-5670/396A adapters.  Long story short, he did and they are now available!  They are far superior to my original adapters.  They are beautifully made and look & sound great.

You can use these adapters without making any other changes to your Paramounts.  I prefer 6SN7s to all 5670/396As I have tried (of course this is system and personal preference dependent).  If you have v1.1 Paramounts, I highly recommend you give them a try.  Here's a link for the adapters:

Thanks Gerry!  The amps in my other system use 6SN7s.  There is just something "right" about that tube--I love it and have a sizeable stash of them.  Will try them in my almost-finished Paramounts!

I would like use 6SN7 tube as well.  I have the Paramount V.1.0  The seller of this adapters is asking if the amps are 12.6V or 6.3V?  Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Let him know that between tube pin 9 and 4/5 there is 6.3V.

Unless you have the "slow start" upgrade with the 5670 tube, the 6SN7 is not easy to substitute. And if you DO have that upgrade, there is 6.3v between pins 1 and 9, not 4/5 and 9.

In addition to the different pinout, the upgrade board has an adjustable driver bias which allows operation of tubes with different characteristics. The v1.0 Paramount with the 12AT7 does not have this feature. And the 12AT7 won't work with the upgrade board, the adjustable bias does not go low enough.
