I can't believe what these things did to my stock Eros. I had a noisy Russian surplus tube that came with the kit in one channel, and so I bought a new pair of the same recipe, and a pair of these brand-new looking NOS Valvos, and wow! Rich, dense and yet realistic tone, great attack and decay, wonderful timbre of everything from the piano on 'Speakin' My Piece', to the doghouse bass and the horns. But the most immediately noticeable effect of rolling these in is the wide, deep stage (and this is Mono). That shouldn't be happening, right? But it really is. Eros via Wireworld Eclipse copper from Cardas copper-wired Audiomods Classic 2 with Grado Reference Sonata 1, on a SOTA Classic IV. Just amazing.

I had a similar experience with my Eros and NOS Telefunken EF86! Other tubes are '60's white label Amperex 7308, RCA 12BH7. I have a diy heavy plinth/heavy platter Lenco idler drive.

Here is an interesting older (2002) archived thread from the Neumann mic forum about the EF86/EF806s tubes.

That is a gorgeous top plate & base. Beautiful work!

I also saw that Neumann forum page, and bought the Valvo's from a German ebay seller based on that recommendation and the Valvo's lower price.

Do we have a tube rolling thread for the Eros here?
