Yes, Saturday January 7th, 1-4pm. PB will be bringing a pair of the 50 watt SE 6550 amps that we heard one of in November. I have moved our big speakers out of the way and we now have the new speaker kit prototypes positioned in a more optimal location as our main setup, with a Kaiju amp. So it will be a lot easier for everyone connect their latest DIY project into the system for a listen.

Awesome! Looking forward to it.  Will we be able to hear two mono Kaiju's on the new speakers?  Curious the difference with double the power.

I am actually thinking about biamping with two strapped monoblocks per channel. That might make for an interesting comparison to the 6550 amps

I will hope to be there, assuming the virus I have gives up its grip (grippe?) on me.  :^)

I'll be there and am looking forward to those 6550 room heaters! This time hopefully we don't burn the carpet ;) It would be nice to hear them compared to a pair of biamped Kaiju's.  Most importantly, I'm excited to hear the new speakers with the crossovers burned in!

I'm going to bring my odd ball SEX build and would like to put it on the scope against the new version for noise floor.

Dan, would you like me to bring those EML 300B mesh plates to listen to?

PJ, I hope that you recover quickly.  There are some persistent bugs going around at the moment....

I listened to a couple of albums this evening, using three amps - a strapped Kaiju monoblock on each channel's woofers, and a single stereo Kaiju driving the tweeters for both channels. The bass definitely stays more controlled at higher listening levels. It's going to be fun trying all of the different possible combinations. Just takes some y splitters and extra cables, and a little bit of output transformer secondary rewiring.

@Aaron - sure, bring the EML meshies, would be fun to compare to the solids.

If I determine my mix to be acceptable I may demo a track or two that Jim Laurel recorded at Jacqui and Art's concert last month. We had some fun capturing the room sound by hanging a mic in the hallway downstairs. Worked pretty well.
