Title: Amplifier Pole
Post by: audiophileboss on November 11, 2013, 03:25:06 PM
After starting a pole in "headphones" I am curious as to what amplifiers you guys are using. Please put down all the amps you may have, even quantity, all counts for 1 "point". Also please check out my
Headphone pole in headphone catagory.

Just to recap, all amps count. If you have 300 cracks, not a problem, thats 300 ticks for that catagory. Vote for all the amps you have. A amplifer such as S.E.X that does speakers and headphones qualifies, headphone amps obviously qualitfy, but sole speakers amps do not. Amps and DACs in one (asus xonar, sennheiser HDVD800) do count

1) Bottlehead Amplifer (Crack, S.E.X, Mainline(no brainer)
2) Bryston Amplifier
3) Sennheiser HDVA 600 or HDVD 800
4) Burson Audio Amplifier
5) Woo Audio Amplifier
6) HiFiman Amplifier
7) ECP Amplifier
8) Other Amplifier

Personally 1 Crack, 1 Bryston BHA-1, 1 Senn HDVA 600, 1 Burson Soloist, 1 ECP Audio L2

Pair of 300b DRD amps
Pair of Paramount 2a3 amps

The observation is that after you find the right amp you are left with a lot of losers.

My system consists of VPI 19 with BPS EVO lll cartridge, Custom Eros Phonostage, Custom Soul Sister/Kugelis linestage, Custom Stereo 2A3 amp(all three built by Paul Birkeland for me with MQ iron and cobalt),  Senn HD 600's cabled by Cardas, and Blumenstein Orcas + BUF Subs. All else but the Marchand 24Db/octave X-over and the DYNA ST-70(that PB is seriously modding) has been sold off or traded. I am a very happy listener now.

I have 1200 mint vinyl discs in my collection_____ and it is so good to have them back in the air here!

I use an OPPO BDP-95 player for CD playback and an Olevia TV for DVD viewing/listening____ both very adequate. PS/Soloist power conditioners are in the wall for all pieces, and mostly Bluejeans cabling throughout.

Hoping each of you on this Forum are as happy as I am.

Cheers! Hank in Eugene

I have 3 amps.  Two tubes and one solid state.  I use a Dynaco MKIII with all the Curcio Mods as my main system amp.  I like the EH KT88 tubes in these.  I have Quicksilver monos (old 8417 type modified to use EL34 although I really like the KT77's in them) as backups. in my outdoor system I have an Adcom GF-555.  I also have an old IPC AM-1026 that I am currently restoring (running 807's).  I also have a ASUS Xonar that I use for digitizing my LP's but it works well for headphones.

I really like the Dynaco's, they are strong, very articulate and have great bass.  I would love to try a single-ended system but what spare money I have I spend on upgrading my main system.

My Bottlehead products currently in use is the BeePre and Eros preamps.  I also had built an original Bottlehead preamp and Seduction phono preamp which have been retired.

You guys are super funny... Most of you are so busy name dropping everything you have, that you may have missed what I interpreted as, "amps for speaker purposes only do NOT count"...   but, no harm done obviously, interesting anyway... :)

I am most definitely trying to NOT make ANYTHING out of this.. just having a little fun... I am imagining he is saying ALL "headphone" amps count... I could be wrong of course.. remember, the dude spelled "poll" POLE... :)  I was just reading between the lines...

In our intrinsic American xenophobic way, we often forget that many of our favorite forums are international communities.  Much leeway needs to be given to members for whom English is not their first language.

Geary

Terima Kasih Geary... I will reiterate.. because the guy said POLE instead of poll, I took that into consideration and thus  READ between the lines thinking that he probably just left out the word "headphone' before amp, since the previous poll was all about headphones :)... meaning nothing more and surely nothing less than this... And yes, I am and was QUITE aware of the foreigner possibilities here thank you kindly.... And not so sure I fall into your "our" intrinsic xenophobic category.. but ALL is good, lets go back to the poll and on topic... I dont want to be sorry I just interjected a little fun at you guys listing ALL of your gear.. NO BAD intentions were meant... Makasih Banyak...

FWIW the OP is from the English speaking part of Canada as far as I know. I'll also add that I think polls are a useless gimmick. Head fi has plenty that kind of stuff on it and is probably a much better place to pursue that kind of thing.

Thanks "chris" for getting the point out :). But hey this is just for fun, i have lost count. Btw, English is not my first language. I lived in italy 16 years of my life...just trying to get by. So, sorry about the pole poll thing

I wouldn't sweat it.  I enjoyed your post and my spelling in most other languages, and probably my own now that I think about it, is atrocious.
