I thought I saw mention in one of the Crack threads about the possibility of an outboard power supply for the crack. Separating the powers supply into its own box and perhaps creating a chassis with FrontPanel.
Has anyone made a separate power supply for the crack? Would love to see a link or two if so.
Thanks.

Making an outboard power supply is pretty easy. You build the power supply on a different chassis and bring the AC heater, DC tube B+ and ground over to the audio chassis. You just have to be very careful that you get it all right.
But there are many dead silent Cracks out there. Unless you have very sensitive headsets you won't hear any hum. That would be the reason for an outboard power supply.

Thanks for the reply.
I was very curious not so much to go that route but to see if any enthusiastic crack heads had ever attempted one and posted up photos, seeing that so many folk get bit by the big cap bug and need more space.

Mine is silent. I have nos tubes, padded down the volume and did one mod discussed elsewhere on these boards to the headphone jack. Otherwise I'm stock and am quite pleased

If you're going through that much work, buy a 12" x 12" base from us or Blumenstein and have a custom plate made.
External power supplies introduce all sorts of complications that just aren't present with a single chassis Crack.
