is there any reason I can't safely sub a 6K6? I know it may make the transformer run harder/hotter, but at 125V is that a concern?

The 6K6 draws a little less heater current, but it's not different enough that I wouldn't sweat it that much.  That will relieve some of the load on the power transformer.

The 6K6 also looks like it may draw a bit less high voltage current, but again it will be pretty close to the same.

I do not see any reason that the power transformer would run hotter.

Well, I'm late to this thread...but I have used multiple pairs of 6K6 tubes in the Moreplay.  They work fine, amp likes them, and you can experiment with the different sonic qualities of each pair.
