time for a cap upgrade!

Hi,

Just got notification that my K75-10 russian capacitors will be here today!  Can't wait to try the next upgrade in the Quickie as it has been quite a while.  Is there a way to burn them in without using up battery power?  Thanks,

Dave,

You can put them across the speaker outputs of an amplifier and play some dynamic music on repeat for 3-4 days.  Don't play too loud, don't have the speakers hooked up at the same time. 

This puts higher voltage than you will see in the Quickie across them and gives 90% of break in.

I like these caps.  I have bought several "lots" of them over the last 12 years.

I don't think the K75's need a lot of break in.  They're a little warm-sounding at first but tend to even out after a short while.  Maybe 50 hours.  Great caps!

How big are the caps? A 2.2uF cap will have a reactance of around 8 Ohms at 10kHz, dropping to around 4 Ohms at 20kHz.  This is probably just perfect to sit at the output of an amp, but breaking in a 22uF cap in this manner would be a rough load for most amps (An 8 Ohm resistor in series would fix that).

The caps are 2.2 uf.  Grainger, how would I do the burn-in?  Plug a cd player direct into the amp, then have a cap across each set of amplifier outputs?  Thanks,
