First time soldering. I read this forum, watched the recommended videos, and got some practice soldering pieces I found for cheap.
Finished building, resistance checked out.
All voltages check out except for terminal 5, reads 155.4. The other incorrect voltage is at terminal 9, reading 154.8. Then I notice only one led lit. The one that is not lit is connected to A3. I look at the manual, and notice that the led on my build is backwards. It says in the manual, plain as day, "make absolutely certain you have attached the banded lead" to the center pin of the nine pin socket. Every time I build anything I always do something backwards, and here I've done it again.
So I desoldered the led, turned it around, and resoldered it in. The resistance and voltages checked out and the amp works great! Also, both leds lit.
In a few weeks I’ll add the speedball.
Also thanks to Doc B. and everyone else at Bottlehead. Everything was neatly packaged with nothing missing.
This amp has added a whole new dimension to my collection of music!
