Hey everyone,

So I'm finishing up my resistance checks. Everything is sound, except for terminals 6 and 10. The manual that I got for Crack 1.1 (September 20, 2016) says I should be getting readings of 0 ohms. I am getting a slow and consistent 2.4/2.5 fluctuation, which sounds more reasonable to me considering these terminals are connected to 2.49k ohm resistors via connections from their bottom openings to the headphone jack.

Is this a typo from this manual, or are T6 and T10 supposed to read 0?

This is not a typo.  The headphone jack grounds out these terminals when no headphones are plugged in.

I would very, very closely inspect the solder joint where the black wires meet on the headphone jack.  It's extremely common for this joint to be only partially soldered, and a loose wire here will give you the resistance readings you have.

Whoops, you're right, Paul. I accidentally left my 1/4 inch adapter in the headphone jack. I removed it and read 0 on both terminals. Thanks!

My base Crack is done and working well! Immediately, it has a fuller sound than my fiio e10k, especially the bass and low mids. Voices feel like they have more content. And I've only let the tubes warm up for about 10 minutes. It's a beautiful sound. I may need to buy a real DAC like a Bifrost, as I hear some tiny amounts of sound when idle running through the fiio e10k as a dac at the moment. Otherwise, this was a rewarding experience. It was fun to revisit soldering and electronics, which I haven't touched since high school. I'm gonna listen to the base Crack for half a week to a week before upgrading to the Speedball.

Thanks for a great product!
