Sam,

What kind of adaptor are you talking about?  Have a model number?

Sorry, Jim, I didn't take into account you not being able to see the pic at the top of the page. It's an "AudioQuest adapter RCA male to two RCA female. No product no. that I know of.

Jim,

Like a standard Y-Adapter, two females to one male.

Sam,

Ok, then Grainger is correct -- it won't work that way.  Doesn't the quickie have two inputs?

What happens when you just plug one source into the quickie?

Yeah, it's got two inputs, but I have three sources: PC, CD, Phono.

I don't quite understand why it doesn't work if the CD player is totally turned off.

With both plugged in to the adapter the CD player works fine. I guess when I listen to vinyl I'll just unplug the RCAs going to the CDP.

Then combine the PC and CD together.  They are not as sensitive to the driven impedance as the Seduction.

Even with the CD player off it can have resistance to the output.

Sam, I have multiple sources and multiple output devices, so I built a multi in multi out switchbox. Easy to build and was not too expensive. Just a thought.

Cheers,

Nope, doesn't work with the CDP and PC sharing an input.

But that's OK. I'll just leave the CDP unplugged until I need it.

I have obtained switch boxes from Radio Shack in years past; I suppose they still have them. Cheap and effective.

After I built my SEX amp, Doc recommended the switch boxes from Radio Shack. They work very well.

I don't quite understand why it doesn't work if the CD player is totally turned off.

Turning the CD player off doesn't remove the components that preceed the output jacks.  It's possible that there's a 10K resistor across those output jacks, and that resistance combined with the 100K pot on the Quickie would present a very low load for the Seduction to drive, resulting in poor low frequency response, and actually twice the cable capacitance that you would normally have!

For another example, assuming you have a Rega Planet, there may be a compensation network in the output too, which could add other undesireable effects if the Seduction "sees" these as part of its load.
