Eric,
Sorry for this dumb question but what does the second Quickie do?  I can't follow the input and output wiring, is it just for extra gain?

Same question. I thought the gain was pretty good with just one. What is it that you are hearing with the second one in line?  The only thing that I can think of is that you are using lesser gain on each, which means lesser clipping, in case you were going full tic on the single one.

Its a little crazy, but I'm using my Transporter as a pre-amp and the digital out is also attenuated. I'm using a long toslink to my MSB DAC to provide input to my Crown sub amp. I added the Quickies as an active boost because the DAC output is too low. Everything ends up on one interconnect to the Crown running in bridged mono. The Crown also has balanced inputs. Im not sure how to wire the Quickies to provide balanced output. Paul mentioned that I can use two Quickies to provide one balanced output - topic for another thread!

Us crazy guys do things out of the box now and then. Sometimes it ends up in flames, or times it ends up in enlightenment. Half the fun iz the ride.

There is a good white paper on connecting balanced and unbalanced devices, on the Jensen transformer web site. Naturally they prefer transformer solutions, so apply your own grain of salt!

http://www.jensen-transformers.com/an/an003.pdf

Fig 2.1 is easy and usually works well.

Fig 2.4 it truly balanced - it's in the BeePre. But you have to know the output impedance, which is very different for different Quickie plate loads. For stock, about 2K, for PJCCS about 4K, with a choke you need a second choke per channel ...

I definitely spend more money on booze than gear! They go good together though. - Hey Paul - thanks for the balanced info. It sounds like an interesting project! I may be forced to try it!
