I just got a new pair of Beyerdynamic Tesla T1s and have been listening to my newly completed crack. All I can say is that my mouth is still hanging open. I have listened with a pair of DT880s 600 ohm but the Tesla T1 just left me speechless. The Crack sounds better than I could have ever imagined. A full rich sound with plenty of low end and great clarity. The Teslas added a nice attack or speed response. They are also more sensitive, and the music very detailed. I like the rear tilted drivers. All in all, I couldn't be happier. I have this amp in my office to help drown out some of the background noise, but now I can only concentrate on the music and my work is not getting done. Thank you bottle head.

A hot-rodded Crack & T1 is killer combo. Welcome to the club, I'm six month in with my combo and continually astounded by the pairing.
Have you thought about adding some of those cheap Russian K72P6 teflons as bypass's for your 100uf's. They only cost a couple of dollars each, I was pleased with the effect adding them had listening with my T1's.

Shoot for the moon if you miss you will still be amongst the stars!

I too have the T1s and agree that they're very special headphones.

The photo of your "Office Crack" left me a bit awestruck. That's one of the best looking builds I've seen. If you don't mind my asking, did you do it yourself? Where did you get the wood base?

Also, what specific tubes are you using?

I built the base myself. I started with the standard Bottlehead base wood and did a double inlay using east indian rosewood. The inlay is 1/4" thick. The lower inlay is 3/4" wide and the upper is 1/4" wide. Then I used a 45 degree router bit to put the top edge on the base to take away from the bulky look. I spent a lot of time sanding and went down to 600 grit. Then I rubbed several coats of Danish oil (walnut) on the base and finish with briwax, applied with #0000 steal wool. After the wax dried I buffed it with a car polisher. The hardest part was cutting the inlays to get a perfect fit.

The 12AU7 is a balanced NOS RT long plate. The 6AS7G is a Mullard rebranded Svetlana tube. I like the tubes very much, but as you know, there are almost an infinite number combinations of tubes to try  ;)
