The first kit I built was a Heathkit Audio Generator, Model AG-9A. I bought it from the Heathkit store. I used it to measure the impedance of a speaker I bought from a Lafayette Radio Store.
I've built: Foreplay I, Foreplay II, Foreplay III, Paramour I, Paramour II, Seduction, SEX, Quickie.
So building kits are not a problem. Well, Paramount's are in the box still, that's a problem.
I'm just slow. I could rationalize I'm busy, but let's go for slow.
So ... I finished building the Crack I started in July 2011 yesterday. I was living in another state when I started it.
Two things are amazing, I didn't lose any parts and the Crack does sound great.
Anyone up for a slow race?

That's an impressive amount of patience!  Is she all up and running?

Hey Paul,
Yep -- she's a running. You did a great job!

I had a resistance measurement fail at terminal #22. It was open (not connected to ground)
I put fiber washers (as instructed) under the pwr transformer to the chassis.
After inspection, I noticed, I also put fiber washers between the pwr trans on the underside of the chassis and terminal strips, numbered 11, 16, 17, 22. This is a total of 8 washers.
I read the instructions again, I built this part up in 2011, and didn't see that step. But I do see the washers in the photos.
I tighten the pwr transformer screw that connects to terminal #22, and that corrected the bad ground connection for the heater supply return. I might have gotten paint under the transformer top bell. With the risk of creating a ground loop (it didn't in my case), I installed a short as possible piece of buss wire from the safety ground to terminal 22L. I doubt it was necessary.

Lunch with Grainger, hopefully it won't be raining ice cubes.
Maybe we can have a slow race building the Paramounts still in the box.

I have built a right Paramount.  I'm game.  How about I do the left one this time?
