Just finished my Crack. No speedball yet, but it's just super. Thinking about an Eros as a phono-pre upgrade. Cartridge would be Ortofon Cadenza Bronze with Bob's Devices VPI SUT. Any thoughts out there? Thanks in advance.

What's the ratio of the SUT?

Ratio is switchable, 1:10/1:20. Btw, gain of my current pre is 43dB, 7dB less than the Eros. I use the higher ratio.

1:20 is coming into the Eros pretty hot at 8mV. It should be OK, but you may experience some clipping. The 1:10 may be a better bet, but you're going to have to try it both ways.

Josh or maybe Paul,

I'm somewhat concerned about the higher gain as well as interaction with my SUT. Do you think I would be better off with the Reduction plus Integration Upgrade?

Thanks again,

Alan

Sorry if this was unclear before. Your pairing with an Eros should be fine. It does have a rather high (though not insanely high) output, which might be an issue. You will need to try it to find out. Should you find it to be a problem, you have the option of using your lower ratio for a 4mV input, which is just about perfect.

FWIW IIRC, I believe the Eros circuit is more tolerant of overpowering the input. It will also sound better.

You'll be right on the money with the 1:10 configuration.

Thank you Paul. After I get to the Speedball for my newly beloved Crack, That might be the next challenge to these old hands and eyes.

Btw, what are the dimensions(width and depth) of the Eros including case.

Thanks again,

Alan
