I wanted to give a big thank you to Dan for his help with my reel to reel rig yesterday.  I’m active duty military and move every three years.  With that, there is a new house and new gremlins to track down in the system.  My r2r rig has had a hum that drove me nuts, so much so I wasn’t listening to tape because of it and haven't for the last year.  Dan graciously had me bring the deck and Eros in and we trouble shoot the hum systematically in the big system.  By the end we had it sounding very nice in his system and I learned some new ways of tracking down hum.

It took an hour of trying different things upon returning home but in the end, my r2r rig has never been quieter or more enjoyable to listen to.  Thanks again Dan for your help!  Now I need more tape………

Will you be flying Doc B out to help out next time you move? (I don't think he'll mind!)

My pleasure, Aaron. Somehow I have been blessed or cursed - depending upon who has the noise problem - with the ability to get noise out of systems. It does take a very systematic, empirical approach and the understanding that there is often more than one way that the noise gets into the system.
