Hello All,

I have a Crack with Speedball upgrade that has developed a nasty hum.  Sounds like a ground hum so I checked the ground to plug and everything seems fine.  I found out that if the power tube is touched it will go away for a while so I replaced the tube but it remains.

My guess is something isn't right under the power tube but not sure where to look.  If I tap the tube or move it slightly, it will be back to it's wonderful old self with no noise but it will eventually come back.  Asssuming that it's heating up and whatever is amiss rears it's ugly head.

Any thought on what to check or where to look?

Thanks in advance.

Shawn

If you tap on the tube and it goes away, there's likely a solder joint in the amp that is either not soldered or not soldered well.
