Threads on Ground Screw messed up

The ground screw that I got unfortunately will not thread. Is there a specific material that the screw has to be?  I will get a replacement at Home Depot if possible.

Steel is a nice idea.  Home Depot should have a zinc plated 8-32 screw that will work well.

Are you sure you used the 8-32x3/8 screw supplied, and not the 8-32 self tapping screw? They look similar and the self tapping screw does not want to screw into a nut easily.

Yeah I triple checked that. It was just a small defect in the threads that completely stopped it from letting it thread into the nut.
