Like many others, I am a DIY novice, first-timer for woodworking, and recently got my Crack kit. I did some research about finishing the wood basis and chassis, but living in Japan, I could not find the often recommended Rust-Oleum or Minwax materials, such as the hammered finish spray paint etc. Here I made a list of DIY materials I gathered in Japan. This could maybe serve as a reference for anyone living here too. I will probably wait for the rainy season to be over to then start the project, and maybe alter post some pictures of how it turned out then.

 Wood mount basis

 - Glue for woodworking by Cemedine

 - Cleaning: thinner for oil-based paint by Nippe

 - Sandpaper: ordinary sandpaper of grit #80, #120 and #240.

 - Primer: transparent wood primer from Asahipen

 - Stain: oil based varnish by Washin Paint (和信ペイント 油性ニス) (color of choice: 5 mahogany).

 - Finish: "oil for finnish on wood carving" by Washin Paint

Top plate chassis and transformer bell cap

 - Cleaning: isopropyl alcohol by Hiroba Zero.

 - Primer: A transparent metal primer in spray by Asahipen

 - Paint: A general purpose paint "Creative Color" in spray by Asahipen (アサヒペン クリエイティブカラースプレー) (color of choice: 81 Ivory).
