Hi All

What gauge/thickness of solder should I buy please??

Totally novice and just starting to get together what I need.

The manual doesn't specify gauge but does specify to have 60/40 or 63/37 tin/lead solder. Make sure its rosin core and for electrical use. If using a solder station set the temp between 650-700.

Other than that, I had something that was around 16 gauge, its not marked and no solder I have actually has the gauge marked. Don't get anything super thick and you should be fine.

As to gauge - I'd look for something between 20 and 22, or close to 0.030" in diameter.  In my experience this size range works well for both "regular" soldering (e.g., wires to terminals) and through-hole pcb soldering a la the Crack Speedball upgrade.  You can go smaller, and just feed more solder into the joint, but going larger could make pcb soldering difficult.

Cardas Audio Quad Eutectic Solder with rosin core 2 percent silver i think around 0.0030. YMMV.....................
