Hi Folks,

I just received the Eros II kit.  The transformer bell cover looks different than the one on my Crack.  What is that shiny finish and will it rust if left unpainted?

Many thanks,

John

Usually they all come as bare steel, can you post a photo of what you see?

Hi PB,

Now that I look at it, it is definitely steel.  So it will need to be painted which is no problem.  Also, there are no through-bolts to attach the bell to the laminations.  Are the bolts in with the hardware kit?

I attempted to attach a picture; let me know if it's visible.

Thanks,

John

I believe that's just transfer from bubble wrap onto the steel.  A little steel wool, some solvent cleaning, and a bit of paint and you should be all set.

Yup, the power transformer mounting hardware is in the hardware bag. This may be helpful -

and this for painting the end bell -

Thanks Doc.  I see the long bolts and the nylon shoulder washers in the bag.

Can you tell me where to download the instructions to build the Eros II?  I thought I was going to get the instructions on a disk, but apparently things have changed.

Many thanks,

John

Hi,

I just realized that I don't know which side of the Eros II chassis plate is the top.  One side is shiny with close striations on the surface.
The other side is dull, but it doesn"t look like the top side of the Crack's chassis plate before it was painted.

Confused as usual,

John

If you look at the first page of the Eros 2 manual, you'll see a finished shot of an Eros 2, and it shows which side the power switch and IEC power entry module are on.

The RCA jacks also really only mount properly one way.

There is a picture on page 13 in the manual that shows the top side of the chassis panel and where parts are mounted.

Thanks to both Doc and PB,  BUT where do I download the EROS 2 manual...I don't see a tab on the Bottlehead site for manuals?  Do you need a code or a key to download?

Thanks,

John

You would have received a download link for the assembly manual when you bought your kit. If you need another link contact eileen at [email protected] on Monday with your name and the approximate date you ordered your kit. From there we can verify your purchase and send you a download link.

Ok Doc.  I'm all over my email everyday, including junk mail.  I never got it.

Thanks,
