My build is below. The preamp works, sounds fine except for a left channel hum. Reversing tubes doesn't reverse the hum. Reversing output jacks does. Happens on both outputs. Any idea why?

Now it seems to be more of a hiss and when music plays it seems to change character somewhat to the pace of the music.

You don't appear to have any connections to pin 3 on either 8 pin socket.  This would cause you to fail your voltage checks for sure, and may cause some damage to the tubes if run for a long time.

Oh my god I missed an entire step! You were right Paul. Somehow I still passed resistance and voltage checks. Anyway I added the connectors to terminal 3 as per the instructions. Hum is gone and its now totally silent like my crack!

Thanks Paul you are the best bro.

Edit: Sorry for being a moron :(
