Distortion profile versus Foreplay models?

Circling back on the distortion measurements of the Moreplay provided above, what is the source of the distortion? Is it the tubes themselves being used in a very simple circuit without feedback? What is the upgrade in works, any ECD on it, and will it reduce the overall distortion?

Zero feedback gain stages do indeed distort.  The upgrades are intended to reduce the noise of the circuit as well as increasing the loading impedance on the 6V6s, which will reduce the THD.  Potentiometers also aren't distortion free devices, so the attenuator upgrade will address that.
