Hello, I am new to the forum and look forward to learning all I can from all the  members here. I have a PAS-2 preamp that only seems to like inputs such as turntable and RR at the "Tape" input,  All other are very low and distorted. Is the unit prone to this with age. and when working properly is there a prefered input to use. I have a ST-70 on one end and have had the best fidelity so far with a TEAC 32. Turntable also works fine with a NAD preamp but again they have to be going into "Tape" Input. I am a Electronic tech and will be rebuiling both dynacos in the future for both looks and upgrades.
Thanks Dave

Hi Dave,

This forum is really intended for discussion of Bottlehead products. You would probably find a wealth of info about your PAS-2 at this forum:

My bad, I assumed with the 50 sum responses to the Dynaco ST70 thread below I would find some help.
Regards Dave

I didn't say that no one would help. I was trying to suggest a place that specifically deals with your preamp and that probably has more info about repairing it. I'm sure there are guys here who have had a PAS. I've had a few myself. I don't recall having the problem you are experiencing, but if your highest gain inputs work OK and the lower gain ones don't it could just be a bad selector switch.

Thank You, that is great advice on the levels. The Audoasylum forum looks like a huge dynaco resource. I will be looking at you tape preamp once I get my front end up to snuff
