If it fits the available space and mounting holes, it should work well. The measurable advantage is better channel balance. Subjectively it may sound slightly different, too.

That said, I expect there will be a version of our 2-stage switched attenuator for Moreplay out this year.

If I am reading the circuit diagram correctly the 10k volume pot is a 2W unit. Does it need that high a rating? It doesn't pass DC current, but I can't figure out what AC power it might need to dissipate. I ask because I'm considering stepped pot as well for mine.

There are ways to set up a Moreplay where that part cooks off some power.  When I am bench testing amps and I need a lot of driving signal, I will run one channel of the first prototype Moreplay into the input of the second channel, and that could easily put 16V across that pot, but even then that's only 20mW.

What about a khozmo remote stepper? Maybe won't fit I guess?

It would be awesome if the manual had instructions of how to wire a remote pot. Even if its unofficial (on the forums).

The Khozmo remote attenuator is very, very deep.  You could mount it on the front surface of the wood base possibly.

This is one of those things that you'll have to figure out on your own, especially since it's something I've never done!

IMO, don't let the upgrade hold you back from Moreplay. You never get back those days you missed out.  :-*

My Moreplay is up and running with several of my own mods, just interested in what Botthead would do. I always considered the factory modifications more desirable.
