Hi Paul, you posted a Crack finished with a red dye in the gallery, 6/19/19, would you post more details?

That was one built to look similar to a specific vintage phonograph.  The base is mahogany dyed red and the top plate is a gold vein powder.

Yes, I saw that, was wondering if you remembered any other particulars, ie. what type of dye and what protective finish?

The bigger deal is that the base isn't alder, it's mahogany.  I'm pretty sure I used Transtint dye on it.

I saw that as well, thinking about Mahogany stain, possibly with the red dye underneath.

You can get a couple different stains and test them on the inside  surfaces of the base sections...John
