I have a remote connected to my moreplay. Does it make a difference where I set the volume control on the moreplay, or should I max it out?
Thx

How is the remote connected to the Moreplay?

Typically, you want the maximum possible signal appearing at the input of the Moreplay in order to maximize signal to noise ratio and to mitigate the effects of microphonics.  It would be a bit of a mistake to put a volume control in front of the Moreplay for these reasons.

It's between the power amp, no volume control, and the moreplay. Right now, I have the moreplays knob set at 2/3's and the remote does the rest.

Between the power amp and the preamp?

If it's a 10K unit and you have the volume control in the Moreplay turned all the way up, that should work nicely.

What if the pot is 100k on the volume control unit, which it is?
Thanks much!

That's not suitable for driving interconnects, nor would it be suitable for for what's present at the input of most power amplifiers.  I would be very, very surprised to find a 100K standalone volume control intended to be used in this manner.

I've had these for 4 years now, I posted about it, and you mentioned something about it as well, i also posted a link to it. Don't ask me how it works, but it does, and I have had zero issues with it. Now, is this not engineered correctly and would 10k pot be better, well that's waaaaaay over my head. Ill test it with the Moreplay at full volume and see how it goes.
Thanks

The issue you'll have with a 100K control just sitting on its own between an amp and a preamp is that it will create a high frequency roll-off that will be largely dependent on the position of the volume pot, and could be quite audible.  You could easily find yourself -3dB at 10kHz with the pot sitting at 50% of the resistance range, then that would just go away as you moved away from that position.

Aha, I understand now. I took tidbits of what you just wrote, cause really, I didn't understand all that much, dumped it into AI and bam, I get it now.
