VALVE magazine issues linked here
« on: March 14, 2011, 02:12:18 PM »
UPDATED LINKS ON 5/12/14

For many years many people have asked, cajoled, hounded and begged me to put the old issues of VALVE magazine which I started in 1994 into an archive. At long last I have pulled together the first 6 years worth of issues that were published in print.

Please note: There is not even the slightest hint of a suggestion of tech support for the material covered in these articles. This material is here for historical purposes only and I take no responsibility for what may be myriad technical errors - including my own. I was learning back then, just like you guys. It is unlikely that I will be able to spend much time answering questions so I will suggest that this forum may be used for discussion of the various articles amongst the participants.

Hey Jim,

You are welcome, and thanks to all the folks who subscribed back in the day. Some of those guys went on to become my dearest friends and business associates (in that order). Sorry to say that an awful lot of it is scans from old printed newsletters. Apologies in advance if it is not easily read by OCR software. When we started all I could afford was a crummy hand held scanner for images, a really early generation inkjet printer and a tired photocopy machine I bought for $50. Man, it was primitive back in the 20th century! Since then I think we've gone through at least three more scanners, five or six printers and four digital cameras.

Dan,

I'll see what I can OCR, and the rest I can get somebody to type up for me.  Of course this won't happen overnight, but when it's done, if you want plain text versions, I'll be glad to give you copies.

Historical note - volume 2 number 3 describes the World Audio SE integrated amp, which for many of us was our first taste of SET sound.

Note also volume 3 number 1, with Dave Dintenfass' article on the prototype of what became the original S.E.X. amp.

Yes, we were ignorant but having a blast in those days!!!

I remember an article about the "Buddhafied Foreplay".  Is that article in this collection?  I don't see a reference to it.

There is just some really good reading in there.

Thanks for the large effort, I know it was ponderous.

I would like to add my hearty "thanks!" for the effort, Doc.  I was a subscriber to the paper version back in the day, and thoroughly enjoyed it.  So many of them have been misplaced over the years, that it is a genuine treat to have them available again!

Here's the link to the FM3 article: http://www.bottlehead.com/VALVEarchive/1999/va011999.pdf . There's another link in my Rebuilding an FM3 thread for another write up.  Thanks for listening.

These are great!  I'm trying to fill the gaps of the old ones I lost, read too much, or whatever.
Thanks Doc!

FYI - I found that the Nov and Dec 1995 issues give me a broken link message.  It seems to be consistent on both Internet Explorer and Chrome.

Thanks again for the effort - great reading!!!
