Thanks so much to everyone for the fine birthday wishes. It was a fun one, starting with Shawn and I spending the day exploring the removal of some distortion in the tweeters of the big system that was brought out when we installed the beefy new 300B preamp and cranked the volume to max. By day's end we had figured out that our passive parafeed cap filter in the treble amps was letting too much bass through and we're hoping to hear a new clean sound this morning with the addition of another cap at the input of the tweeter amps. We will also be back up to 32 watts on each midrange by day's end, with four Paramounts with the 1 ohm secondaries wired in series and grounded at the center tap for balanced operation.
The family threw me a nice party with a great steak dinner and got me several essentials of modern civilization - the complete Three Stooges collection featuring Curly; Keith Richards' autobiography, Life; the complete Pogo comic strips from 1949 and 1950, and four different bars of very dark chocolate. Colin also fixed my broken workstation, so I can get back to some graphics work.
Had a great talk with Romo about the most excellent remodel happening in the recording studio at 1340 Mission (including next month's installation of a new Neve console), and my soul sister Jacqui left me a voicemail with a sexy "happy birthday" that makes Marilyn's version to JFK sound like Barney in comparison.
I'll leave out the details about later that night. Eileen has many talents...
