One of the beauties of the Web is the information is so widely available. Five years ago there was a lot of crap out there, but now there are some very quality sites that provide excellent services. Here are three:

The MIT OpenCourseWare site is phenomenal. All sorts of subject matter is available for free, and some of the course are offered with study groups. Here is the Engineering and Computer Science page http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/, but it is easy enough to access other subjects. I believe course 6.00 Introduction to Computer Science and Programming, and 6.002 Circuits and Electronics, not only offer study groups but give you a certificate of competition once the course is completed in the allotted time frame. I can't find the info on the certificate, but it is there and the course runs from March?? to June?? Again the link: http://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm That be the home page!

Besides classes, it is also nice to have access to current text books. I stumbled on this site last night. All of the books, the earliest print date I saw was 2010, are free and can be downloaded as a PDF or read on the site. http://www.intechopen.com/ Definitely not light reading, but there is some interesting stuff.

Finally, at the end of the day it is nice to wind down. I like to take a 4-8 mile hike everyday weather permitting, and then end the day with some stretches. I am sure I am not alone in saying even when I am working at a desk all day writing code or soldering, I still need a good stretch out. Since retiring my wife and I have tried to do a Yoga session everyday, and we stumbled up this site. It is free, has some excellent lessons, and they even have HD capabilities. The link is: http://www.doyogawithme.com/ Do Yoga With Me has some great material. The instructor we have been using a lot is David Prochyshyn. His A Deep Release for the Hips, Hamstrings and Lower Back lesson is great and will kick your ass, as will his 30-Minute Class for the Shoulders. Since doing the hip lesson, both my wife and myself have seen a decrease in our hip pain/stiffness, and my back is feeling better everyday. Again:  http://www.doyogawithme.com/

Anyway, just some material that I think most will benefit from. If you have any great free material sites, then I would be interested in seeing them.

Enjoy
