Some of you may recall that with PJ's help and calculations I am using 6BX7 as the driver tube. With Speedball set to 10ma current and -5volts on the cathode I get 80 volts at the plate, very cool and just as PJ predicted. So, being mildly OCD I started looking around to see if other tubes might work. Looking at the plate curves for a 6N30Pi I see that at the settings I am using for the 6BX7 the Russian tube should work with only slightly increased plate voltage. Well, it doesn't, I only get around 43 volts on the plate instead of the 90 volts the plate curves predict. Both plates, so I don't think its the tube. I only have one to experiment with. To verify my settings I put the 6BX7 back in and the plate voltage is back to 80 volts. Simply put this puzzles me and flies in the face of my limited understanding of how tubes work. If anyone has any idea what is going on here I'd sure like to know. Thanks
