Had a great time yesterday meeting a new group of people - and seeing Crazy Eric for the first time in a year or so. The show was quite busy -

and we got some very nice complements on the Tode. Here's a quick and dirty iPhone pic of our setup:

Among the folks I met there was David Myka, who makes some truly beautiful guitars in West Seattle. He came over and tried Tode with this guitar. Sounded stunning, and look at that gorgeous headstock and tailpiece-

He has an amazing gallery of his work on his web site:

Hey Doc, love the new amp, quite beautiful and unique look compared to other amps. Have you thought about offering a Bottlecaster kit? The one you built is fantastic, I like the natural Alder, and the simple finish. Similar to your kits. How does it sound?

Cheers,
Shawn

Thanks for the kind words. The guitar turned into a bigger project than expected, as the used body had a gnarly coat of dark stain that needed to be stripped, sanded and bleached before I could put the Tru Oil finish on. It has a nice tone, a bit tenor-ish I think, probably due to the shorter scale neck. Shooting video of the amp today and if possible will try to record that guitar. Thankfully it will not be me playing, I will be recording video and the instrument will most likely be the player's choice. Shawn and I were having a pretty good laugh at my torturous attempt to play two notes in sequence without making everyone run out of the room screaming as we tested our setup yesterday.

By the way we will be recording direct to RAM with a web cam, at least 960 x 544 unless I can figure out a way to squeeze a little faster frame rate at 1280 x 720 before we start. The sound will be captured by two tube condenser mics I have modified and onto tape on my Nagra T for later conversion to high res digital synced with the video.
