Hi All,

I am in the process of building a Paramount kit and have a quick question regarding the mounting of the PT.

The pictures in the manual on pg 42 show the inverted PT with the white #8 nylon washers between the bottom of the xfmr and top of the chassis plate. Nowhere in the instructions does it say to place them on, so I just made mine look like the pictures provided. With the nylon washers installed, the 2 1/2" screws are not long enough to pass through the xfmr, washers and bottom of the chassis plate to secure with recommend nuts. Are longer screws required?

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this?

Cheers!
Adam.

I'm just guessing here... look at page 38 (I have the old manual, it may be a different page with the soft start), the first instruction for mounting the power transformer.  Did you remove the 4 locking nuts?  The fourth, fifth and sixth pictures down show that there is a lot of thread that should show through, even after the nuts have been replaced.

Lock nuts have been removed.  The amount of thread in the pictures looks nothing like the amount I have - even with the nylon washers not installed...The XFMR alone is 2 1/8"

I'm going to opt for some longer screws and call it a day...too bad it is a holiday Monday and the Home Depot is closed  >:(

We've had a problem with some batches of those screws not meeting spec (which is 2-3/4").  Sounds like you may have received some of the out of spec screws. We are happy to send you another set of the proper length. Just email eileen at queen at bottlehead dot com and she will get some in the mail for you.

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned that there should be eight 2-3/4" screws and four 2-1/2" screws in the kit. the 2-3/4" are for the power transformers. The 2-1/2" are for the cathode resistors. They are easy to confuse.

Thanks for the reply Doc B.  2 3/4" makes much more sense...

No Worries - I think I'm going to just grab some 2 3/4" tomorrow at the Home Depot...

My Klipschorn's are waiting in anticipation  ;)

Cheers
