This is grounding the center of the 6.3V winding, not the transformer itself.

thanks - I'll run a separate wire from the 6.3 v to T9 on the amp.

ok, everything is connected following directions above.

when doing the resistance checks, almost all are close to the manual, with the exception of T1 and T2 (the hi-v connections from the PT2).

these are supposed to be 215-240 ohms.  they measure 94 k ohms.

any suggestions?

You're good to proceed to voltages.  Those would have seen half of the resistance of the high voltage transformer winding (since the center was grounded), but without this connection, that resistance value will change.
