I took a trip to my local hardware store looking for something to use for tube dampers.  Was really looking for the hose clamp setup but decided on this instead.  A couple wraps of aluminum tape and then gently thread the copper on.  Cut the ringing down about 80%.  It still rings but you've got to be deliberate about it.

The tape is something I had laying around - sticky on one side, aluminum on the other - about 1/2" wide.  The copper thingy's are pipe adapters.  Bottom part is threaded and the top part not.  I'd imagine if you cranked down too hard on this setup you could shatter the tube.

It looks like the aluminum tape used to seal rigid ductwork.

Alright, I tried this method. It works beautifully!

In fact, I would say this is the single best tweak I've made to my entire system in a LONG time. Now, I don't know how much this improvement comes from the tweak, since I used my spare Telefunken tubes, which I haven't had in the Quickie for months. But, I don't remember them sounding THIS good. Amazing detail and precision. Wow.
