Hi,

Assembly manual, page 39, top. If I'm not mistaken,
first step, cut 18" CAT-5 ...
reads "trim 1-1/2" off the orange pair."
That should be
"trim 1-1/2" off the brown pair."
The picture with the step is correct.

I had already cut the orange pair, but nothing else,
so I reversed the roles of the orange pair and brown pair.

Hi DW,

You are correct that its the brown wires that should be trimmed. I'll get this into future versions of the manual.

Thanks for pointing this out, it makes it better for everyone.

You can't help but notice that the corrections are posed in a polite fashion.  They are also coming from the more experienced posters here.  I am thinking of a thread I just left that was less than polite.

Couple more manual suggestions. These are really minor. Feel free to ignore, especially if I'm mistaken ;-).
Also, I have not double checked these, just picking them off the scribles on my printed
instructions.

page 46, first step. Don't solder C7 - it's soldered in the next step.
page 35, third step, terminal strip closest to the front not rear.
page 35, fourth step, through the gap in the pins towards the B side, not A side

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks again Dave. You're quite right on all three counts. These corrections will all be in the next batch of manuals.

Hey Joshua,

Nice job on the manual! I've only got two pages until resistance/voltage checks, and I don't have anything significant.

page 44 bottom, add "solder 43"
page 47 third step, don't solder d7.
page 51 step 3 - cut 2-1/2 inch piece

Something to consider for future manuals:
Let the default for wire stripping be 1/4 inch and don't mention  it.  That way the text is on the more
important things.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

Thanks for these posts. I am following along with you and the assembly manual.

If I could go back to the beginning, I would thread and wrap the 215 ohm 1/8 watt resistors onto the 9 pin sockets before placing the sockets in the chassis. My arthritic, fat fingers have a $&^#!! of a time getting those buggers in.

Otherwise, I'm having fun.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

You're welcome.

I'm looking forward to your listening impressions.
