built my crack (without the speedball) and was going through the voltage checks, everything seemed great.  Both LEDs were on.

When I touched pin A8 on the 12AU7 socket, the LED went out and the voltage was at 13.xx VDC.  I got the correct voltage at 3, I don't know what caused the failure, but it seemed to occur right when i touched it.  The rest of the amp checks out other than B1 being a little high (140V) but I assume that's just variation in the tube.  All of the solder is good as far as I can tell.

LED connected to 3 tests good with my meter but LED connected to 8 now shows open, so I assume it would need to be replaced.  Is there any likelyhood anything else was damaged when the LED went out?

I do have some extras in my Seduction c4s kit that I won't be putting together until next weekend, just am curious what the cause might have been so I can double check before blowing another one.

Is the LED unique to the application or can any be used?

Dan,

Yes, the LED is a specific one -- HLMP-6000.  My guess is that you shorted the pin out to an adjacent one when testing -- can happen no matter how careful you are.  Not likely anything else was damaged.  Just call Eileen and she'll send you a new LED.

Yes! if you bump pin 9 with your probe you blow the LED.  I know that because I did it twice.

All is well, I stole the parts out of the Seduction C4S kit and will replace them.  The LEDs are cheap and I have a supplier so I just told them to put a handful in my next shipment.  I assume you don't cherry pick them.

Anyway, I am now up and running with both my Stereomour and Crack and all is well!
