The Mapleshade Samson is indeed attractive. It looks to me like an exceptional embodiment of the old "Flexi-Rack" concept (see linked picture), which uses threaded rods, nuts, and shelving to configure infinitely adjustable rack systems.
Borrowing from the Mapleshade concept, thick butcher block shelves aren't that hard to come by, threaded rod, nuts, washers and such can be had at local hardware stores (I got mine from McMaster-Carr)...heck, if the threads match, it looks like some of the bright shiny bits could be sourced from Mapleshade (as could shelves...check their sale items for a more reasonable deal on 2" shelf w/ isolator hardware).
I got all the hardware for a flexi, but never built it, opting instead for a massive (and dense) office cabinet from a surplus sale (think old TV console kind of looking thing - has a central cavity that can hold a R2R) onto which I placed an IKEA glass/steel coffee table on which to place some turntables, with the amps and pre-amps sitting underneath...perhaps not the best, sonically, but cost-effective and highly functional.
Ditto PB's Expedit recommendation - they make excellent LP storage and it looks kinda like they're used to showcase some hardware at Bottleheadquarters. You can find a lot of great pieces at IKEA that can be used or adapted for audio storage, etc. For example, I found some nice butcher block cutting boards there (about 18x24) for around $10 each that could be cadged together to make a Mapleshade knock-off flexi-rack...I got them to make a TT plinth, but you've got me thinking about the flexi again.
