Has anyone tried the 12sx7? You would need a 12v heater supply, but the 12v octals might be quieter than 6v  with ac heater supply due to the lower current. Would love to try a 12sx7 but I am not set up for octals and don't want to go thru the trouble if it is not much better than the 12au7.
Would the 12sx7 work with the speedball parameters?

Thanks,
Ritchie

It tends to be the opposite actually, with directly heated tubes at least.

The 12SX7 looks a lot like a 12SN7, with 12V on the heater, it should work nicely.

Thanks, probably stick with the 12au7, enjoy tube rolling once in awhile.
It also sounds very good.
