Quickie impressions

I'm in 2 minds about the Quickie's influence on the sound in my system and I'm interested to see what others find with their Quickies.

I'm running a very detailed, but still musical interpretation of the (in)famous Sabre DAC which can be blisteringly detailed. It's connected either direct to the S.E.X. or via the Quickie and then to the S.E.X.

What's puzzling me is that I can't tell if the Quickie is compressing the soundstage or just smoothing out the overall presentation. My headphones are Beyer T1s which can tend towards brightness on some tracks despite a nice warm bottom end so the Quickie brings a beautiful warmth to the overall sound, but I can't yet tell if it's at a cost.

What are your thoughts about the influence of the Quickie in your system?

The Quickie made an enormous difference in my system right away. Increased soundstage and clarity immensely over the preamp in my NAD 3020. I cannot get as much volume as I used to, but what I lost in volume I gained in bass depth and extension, as well as midrange warmth and speed. I could not be happier with this little Q.

Would you mind sharing your component list?  I always (perhaps mistakenly) thought the Q would add a little volume....as well as the improvements you list?

Since you have two volume controls, do experiment with the tradeoffs. Quickie might be overloaded if it is run at full volume setting, or might have some hiss if set too low - there is an optimum.

I have JVC QL-F6 with Denon DL110 cart into Seduction C4S into Quickie into NAD 3020 power amp side, through Klipsch Heresies. Adding the Q gave me a much quieter presentation, increased the bass depth and overall clarity substantially. The only difference is the peak volume is lower than with the stock preamp. However, that is not a problem as I can still hit well over 90 dB in my music room and my normal listening level is about 75-80dB.
I have decided to add a step up device to bring up cartridge output to much better level. I think that will help optimize the Seduction and possibly add a little to the top end as well.
