Hey all,
My quickie is on the way, and I've been looking into how I want to mod it (aesthetics, nothing functional yet). I've decided on a few things that I know will work, but one thing I'm unsure of. I'm looking to cover the chassis plate with a thin leather. My worry is that this will make the chassis plate thicker and was wondering if this would cause some parts to not fit.

Another question I have is related to the volume control, my current preamp is an Emotiva XDA-2 (dac/digital preamp) and I want to continue to use its volume control rather than the quickie's because the XDA-2 comes with a remote. What would be the best volume level to put the quickie at to exclusively use the XDA-2's volume control?

Thanks for any help!

You could probably leave the volume control of the Quickie all the way up to start, then turn it down a bit if necessary (if you only get a few useful steps out of your Emotiva).

Adding leather to the chassis plate will quite likely cause issues with mounting the hardware, you may need to purchase a bunch of extra screws that are longer.

Okay, so there aren't distortion issues when the volume is maxed out on the quickie? Would keeping the volume at maximum help in the case of channel imbalance issues?

Okay, so the only things I would need to get would be screws? It wouldn't be too thick for the RCA jacks? Would I still need new screws if I used a thin leather like a 1 or 2 ounce leather (1/64 or 1/32 inches thick)?

What size screws would I need to get?

You'll just let in everything coming into the Quickie.  You can exceed the maximum input voltage of the Quickie, but at that point you would be severely clipping the input of any power amplifier I'm aware of.

I don't know.  You'll have to determine all of this on your own once the kit arrives.
