Got my BeePre completed. Resistance check was spot on...voltage check was within spec except
Terminal 1 was 3.4v should be 5v
Terminal 4 was 10.1v should be 9.85v
B side
Terminal 16 5.16v
Terminal 19 9.84v
So I put in the system to get some run time on it before checking voltages again. Turn on has a big thump from the subs, but sound was fine. Put about 6 hours on first day.
After playing several hours the second day, I decided to try some Upscale Audio Chinese made mesh plates. At turn on, there was a crackling buzz in the B side. I put on the music and it sounded normal. Then the buzzing side reduced volume, then nothing. Before I got to the amps, the other side lost volume.
I pulled the mesh tubes thinking I had fried them, but when I put them in my Parabee, the worked, but seemed to come on slower than normal.
Back to the BeePre...I put the EH 300Bs back in and thing seemed normal. 300B in, 300b out...sweet!
This morning when I turned on, the crackling buzz returned in the B side with the EH 300B. I swapped tubes and the buzz followed the tube...then got quieter and went away. Playing now with out issue.
When I get the chance, I will take it back to the shop to take resistance and voltage checks.
Any terminals I should pay particular attention to?
I also want to do checks with the different 300B tubes...any I shouldn't try besides the Upscale Audio tubes?
