Murry, I am using Firefox 27.0.1 and haven't had any of those problems.  So I don't think it is your browser.  Since the days of the odd log in page and changing my home page to the forum everything has run smoothly.

If you haven't updated to the most recent Firefox, do so and report back.

When I load the forum login page my Firefox "NoScript" plugin reports that it wants to run scripts from 198.101.157.109.  This seems a bit hinkey, is it part of the login programming?
Also, the Firefox feature for remembering login names and passwords does not recognise the "Username" and "Password" fields as such, and so does not pre-fill them as normal.  I have to manually enter these values each time.  Is this related to the script on 198.101.157.109?
If 198.101.157.109 is genuinely part of the Bottlehead site, then I suppose I could add it to NoScript's white-list.  However, all other websites and forums I deal with do not have this quirk.

These are not major issues for me but may highlight things for your web developer to look into.

That IP address also belongs to Rackspace Hosting in Texas, the same location as the Bottlehead.com site so its safe to allow.  If you still have issues try clearing out your browser cache/cookies too.

I will give Josh P a heads up about the script. We are still refining the setup and you may continue to see a hiccup here and there. We should have things pretty well tweaked in the next week or two.

Hi, still having log-in problems. Sometimes it won't recognise my password, & have to keep re-entering it (yes, it is correct), eventually I get logged on. Running Mac OS X 10.9.1 & Safari.

Thanks mcandmar, I expect the hard-coded IP address is temporary "to get things working". I run NoScript and it flags any request to run a script from another host (to avoid XSS nasties).  I tried clearing my Bottlehead cookies and the browser DID prompt me "Do you want to save the password for bottlehead.com" the next time that I logged in (I clicked "YES"). I checked and Firefox has saved the username and password correctly.  However, for any subsequent login Firefox does not pre-fill the user name and password fields in the login form, as I would normally expect.

Hi Grainger, I am using the Firfox "NoScript" plugin as part of my security lock-down, so my browser's behaviour may differ from yours.  Are you using Firefox's secure password storage to automatically enter your user name and password when you log on?

I am pretty sure my Firefox is not at fault, it works fine with a large number of other sites and forums and was working fine with the old Bottlehead site.  Anyway, I am using Debian stable, so it is not advisable to upgrade to an unstable package.

I will wait patiently to see how things go from here, as I am still able to log on manually... :-)

I have been trying out the "attachments and other options) feature to upload a few pictures from my pc there seems to be a bug in the multiple attachment feature I tried a couple of times on different pc's just to confirm.

Adding a single picture file all works fine.

If I then use the (more attachments) and try to upload two attachments at a time my page goes to a "internal server error message" page.

When I navigating back via forum to the page being modifying I find the two pictures I had been trying to upload have been uploaded successfully.

I am having fun trying out some other features also

Wondering if I can change the glow colour

Bravo for the new website. Just one thing I find annoying with an iPad: the navigation menu on top of the website (not the forum). On a "normal" browser on a PC or a Mac, it's always there. But on an iPad, you have to click on the top button on the right to get it and I had a very long and hard time finding that. Maybe a hint "click here to navigate" or something more original would be a good idea.

OK, I figured out the glitch - if I press 'enter' on the keyboard or keypad it doesn't work. If I click or tap the 'log-in' button, it's ok. Weird?

FWIW, I have had no problem - never had to login since the first time. Using Firefox 27.0.1 and noscript on WinXT. I do not need to allow 198.101.157.109.

Unfortunately I have to log-in every time I visit the forum. My username & password are remembered but as I mentioned before, if I navigate away from the page it logs me out, even though I should be logged-in 'forever'.

We have decided to move our webhosting. The new hosting has been tested this weekend and I am told it is rock solid and that it screams. The migration to the new host should begin tonight. It should be reasonably transparent, and by tomorrow we hope to see the truncated forum posts repaired. Unfortunately issues beyond our control resulted in the the loss of the archived images that you now see scrambled on older forum posts. I do apologize for this, we did our best to preserve everything in the transistion but the somewhat out of date configuration of our old server made it impossible to avoid this problem. Naturally everyone is invited to restore any images they may have posted in the past, and I will attempt to restore all of the ones I have posted. We have changed over to a new and much more efficient database that should help to avoid any future issues.
