Hi

I scoured what I thought was every nook and cranny of the Bottlehead.com web [ages but cannot find anything on obtaing manuals. Are they posted? I am looking for a Foreplay III manual as I need to pad the inputs to compensate for a overly loud source.

My own set has disapeared in the mists of time ... or more than likely my last move.

thanks
Cleet

Hello Cleet,

I believe we can sell you a manual for $10-15.  Regarding the resistors, what value(s) do you have installed currently?

Hi CB

I don't have the faintest clue what I have installed now. They were the resistors that were supplied with the kit, and I do believe they are all the same value. I seem to recall the kit had 6 resistors of the same value supplied, and then 2 other pairs (now long gone), each pair that dropped the gain by different amounts.

I was thinking of dropping one input's gain at least by 15db plus. I had a brief look and I seem to recall (vaguely) which resistors the padding resistors are ... to be honest I expected to find an online manual with the values so I didn't bother toying around and trying to see colors on those tiny resistors.

I guess no online manuals on account of some chancers just visiting these pages and plagerizeing Docs circuits?

I have just put in an order for the Smash, so the Foreplay is a step child now - don't want to spend money. :-)

thanks
Cleet

Yeah, there is a lot of "free learning" shall we call it that could be gleaned from the manuals.  Since you ordered a Smash, I'm sure Doc B. wouldn't mind if I sent you the manual.  Feel free to PM me your e-mail address and I can send you a download link.

Yup, we would be happy to send an e-copy of the manual to a paying customer.

We just had an instance of someone trying to sell a copy of one of our products, using the exact parts values and product name. Their claim was that the exact circuit was in the public domain, which is most certainly is not as we do not and have never posted our manuals publicly. I know the majority of people out there have genuine good intentions about these things, but unfortunately we have to protect our interests against the few who lack the imagination to be able to come up with their own ideas and think it's acceptable to steal ours instead.

What about that copy? They claimed their layout to be an improvement over ours. We built one. It oscillated like a mother****er.

Hi Paul - all I need are the values of the resistors that Doc included in the Foreplay III kits and their level of attenuation. I'm just going to end up losing the manual again :-)

You can just email to my email address on file if you cannot post them.

thanks

I think i know what Doc is referring to as i sent a link to Eileen as it was around the time of the forum switchover.  Not only was the circuit a complete ripoff but the the manual reeked of plagiarism, and he then had the gaul to post it in the auction description. I hope you tied his nether regions to a hot vacuum tube!
