Resistor placement

Hi guys I am hoping for a little clarification I would like to try fitting a 100k resistor in place of my Cracks volume pot to try using a passive pre but not quiet sure of the correct implementation would I be right in thinking I need a resistor in each channel and putting the resistors in the left and right channel wiring where the removed wiring from the pot is will be ok?

What concerns me most is connecting the grounds together as the left and right channel grounds will then not be bridged within the Crack? Though I presume this will take place in the passive pre's attenuator.

I would like to feel I am 100% clear on the connection of the grounds as remember reading about the ground sfor both channel being bridged for safety reasons?

If anyone can spare a few moments to point me in the correct direction here it would be appreciated.

There's a black wire that connects to both ground tabs, just don't remove that.

The 100K resistors go from center pin to ground lug on each RCA jack.  The same can be accomplished by turning the pot all the way up.
