Does anyone know how hot the transformers of Beepre are likely to get?  I am thinking of using the regular Rustoleum paint to color the bells, and I have no idea whether it will be able to resist the hot temperature of the transformers.

By the way, the paint can says that it is not necessary to use a primer.  So my plan is just to sand the bells with 600 grit paper and use couple of coats of paint.  Does this make sense? Thanks.

I haven't run into a paint yet that is that vulnerable to heat.  I would caution against something like paint you would use on the exterior or interior of your house, but otherwise you should be safe.

Sanding the covers is good, as is a thorough degreasing.  I have dedicated sponge at home for this task, and I degrease before sanding.
