What are the "modes" for the switch?

I just finished building my Quickie, completed the tests and fired it up. I gave it 2 inputs and hooked the output up to an amp.

To be honest, I'm a little confused by the switch. I understand that 0 is off, 1 is top and 2 is bottom. However, I don't understand the point of 3-9. When I was initially looking at getting a Quickie I assumed is was a "combiner," not a switch (i.e. it will output both the top and bottom inputs at the same time). Now that I've figured out that does indeed seem to be switch, I still have a question: what are each of the steps in the switch used for, and should I just be sticking in 0, 1 and 2?

There is a washer with a metal tab that sets the number of positions the switch has, i too installed mine in the wrong position giving more than three positions.
