Strangest thing happened today, I've been listening to my crack + speedball + film cap upgrade for probably 200 hours with no issues.  Then all of a sudden I turned it on and there was a loud pop from the 6080, I turned it off, waited a few minutes and tried to turn it on again and I saw some sparks in the 6080.

Didn't want to damage anything so I'm decided to leave it off and ask the forum..  What could have caused this?  Voltage and everything had checked out just fine and it'd been working great for a quite a while?  I had just moved it to a new room and new power plug but I can't image a grounding issue caused this?  :o

Help appreciated.  Thanks!

Quick update to this, ordered another 6080 and a 6SN7G replacement tubes, hopefully they show up soon.

Any other ideas though?

I had some sparks in a working Crack myself.
PB told me there might be some loose particle in the particular tube.
Haven't noticed it later.

Sorry a 6AS7G.

Just to close this out - might have been some loose particles or something in the Tungsol-Chatham original tube.  Tried with a RCA 6AS7G and a GE '5star' 6080 and voltages all check out within acceptable ranges.

Thanks for the help!
