cool, i'll have to try something like that sometime. Quick update, hooking up the sub to the speaker level inputs decreased the hum, but didn't make it go away. I guess the thing to do now is hook up the tube shields??

Just make sure they're grounded. I think the screw that holds the terminal strip in place is also connected to ground. So use that screw to mount the terminal strip and the new tube socket.
