having ordered a stereomour--i am now curious about all the different 2a3 tubes--opinions on the JJ 2a3 40 watt---the shuguang2a3c --the shuguang 2a3z-sino--sovtek and any others--i noticed the jj2a3 40 watt has just that- 40 watts of dissipation--how much of a benefit is that compared to the others--thanks howie

When my stock Sovtek tubes wore out I ordered a pair of Shuguang 2A3Cs.  I had nothing to fairly compare them to but loved the sound immediately.  I have since bought a pair of RCA Blackplates and they are better.  Not by a great margin but meaningful.  They are not used often.

The J/J 2A3-40 is essentially a 300B, with a 2.5V, 2.5A filament.   2A3 is normally rated at 15Watts PD.

In a Paramour (or  Stereomour), it would behave as a 2A3 would, dissipating 15W or less.
Power output would be the same as a "normal" 2A3.

They need to be run around 60mils in current to be happy.  They are very quiet and sound quite good.  Cheap too. I believe that they are in essence a Sovtek 300b that runs at 2.5v.  Richard

So, you would not expect them to sound their best in a Paramour or Stereomour, which run 50mA?  We'll have to try that some day!  :^)
